Hacking and Cybercrime

Cybercrime is crime committed on the Internet. Examples range from financial cybercrime, to hacking, to crimes of a sexual nature. Cybercrimes have different weight, and coincidentally result in various different ranges of sentences. The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) sets forth guidelines for crimes such as trespassing in a government computer, which can be punishable by as little as one year in prison; and obtaining national security information, which can be punishable by up to ten years in prison on the first offense and twenty years on subsequent offenses.[1] Some cybercrimes, such as cyberbullying and online harassment, are intended to emotionally hurt the victims, while...
